A Ma Maniére, James Whitner's Atlanta-based boutique, is known for blending high-end luxury with a deeper purpose. For its take on the Air Jordan 1, the store delved deeply into the mystique of His Airness to create a design that was true to history. Paying homage to the shoe's beautiful legacy, James and his team used restraint in their embellishments, bringing a new level of elegance to the Air Jordan 1 while maintaining its original design and stance.
To achieve that level of luxury, the A Ma Maniére team turned to another Jordan Brand model with a storied history: the Air Jordan 2. The A Ma Maniére x Air Jordan 1 features an all-over Sail suede upper for a subtle vintage look. It also features a quilted burgundy sockliner with similar exotic leather designs adorning the collar and Swoosh for a dramatic color contrast.
But Maniére chose the burgundy accents with consideration as it is a bold colour that expresses royalty, a sort of red with a different kind of status than MJ's kit.
