Slam Jam has been involved in what they call the global underground since its inception in 1989. The Italian giant has always been a channel for the expression of subculture, characterized by a provocative attitude and articulated through multifaceted creativity.

Slam Jam chose the Dunk as the canvas for their latest partnership with Nike. The Dunk, long associated with street and underground culture, meshed well with Slam Jam's mentality. "The Dunk has definitely had a huge influence," says Slam Jam owner Luca Benini, "serving as one of those aspects that allows us to create connections around the world and grow what is now called street culture."

The rebellious tone of the inverted Swoosh on the tongue is accentuated on this design with translucent rubberized Swooshes that connect to the heel for a distinctive branding look. Translucent outsoles complete the material composition, while a whimsical recreation of the Dunk's signature perforation adds a subtle new flavor.

“This Dunk represents the qualities of simplicity and attention to imaginative detail that are Slam Jam’s DNA with our rebellious mentality,” Benini concludes.
