In 2009, around the same time Kanye West launched his first collaboration with Nike, he also launched a trio of sneaker styles in collaboration with Louis Vuitton. The joint venture has its roots in the friendship between West and Marc Jacobs, then creative director of the French fashion house. This all-black edition of the Louis Vuitton Don is the only colorway of the mid-top silhouette to feature a suede upper.

Kanye West was known as the Louis Vuitton Don before the Yeezy. Kanye not only wore some of the brand's most iconic designs, but he also developed many sneakers for the label. The Patchwork version of the Louis Vuitton Don has rose suedes and leathers with flashes of magenta on the sockliner. For an aristocratic aesthetic, the laces include a tassel pattern with gold bands.

For the Louis Vuitton Men's Spring-Summer 2022 show, Virgil Abloh collaborated with Nike to design 47 pairs of bespoke Air Force 1s, fusing classic sneaker codes with Louis Vuitton insignia and materials in homage to hip -hop culture that shaped him.
